HD Native Update!

After some fact-finding HD|Native has the following features:

– Ships November 4th

– 64 Bit floating point engine

– Low latency monitoring(under 1.6ms) WITHOUT Plugins only

– Up to 64 channels of I/O

– Full feature set of HD software (delay comp, advanced automation, etc.)

– Unofficial comparison in power is HD|Native on a New MacPro compares to an HD5 TDM System!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am excited about HD|Native.  For $6k + a MacPro you can get an HD system that is suitable for high end ITB mixing.  Sign me up!

  1. Hmmm = I would not be so sure until Avid can iron out all the RTAS bugs. RTAS is way too flakey and randomly drops audio streams – not reliable in front of clients IMHO. I use TDM with joy, but would like to use more RTAS if it worked properly and use the power of my mac.

I haven't had too much trouble with RTAS. Now I mostly run everything RTAS becasue sessions have gotten so huge that I max out my DSP (HD6) running the routing, delay comp, and a few ReVibes… everything else I run RTAS now. It seems pretty solid, and my CPU usage is only at about 10%

  3. I've never had any problems with RTAS, in fact I've stopped buying TDM… no reason to spend the money.

I am so excited for this reason. I can't wait to ditch my HD rig. 64 bit gets me really excited. It's about time.

I can't wait to get rid of HD's loooooooooong startups!! Its retarded!
